Coffee and Community Science: Flood Impact Investigation Workshop

Climate change and sea level rise are driving high tides higher, increasing flood impact and risk in Maine’s coastal communities. Documenting flood events helps us to improve forecasting, increase emergency preparedness, and plan and prioritize resilience actions. This spring brings some of the highest projected tides of the year, but they all occur in the middle of the night. Documenting them takes some post-flood “crime scene investigation" and evidence gathering, which we’ll do together while learning about:

  • Sea level rise, coastal flooding, and tidal science
  • How to contribute your own observational data to the Coastal Flooding Community Science Project
  • How your data informs emergency preparedness and resilience planning

Coffee will be provided – please bring a mug! We hope you’ll join us!
