This event is part of the Fall Fridays Coastal Stakeholders series, a set of walk and talks around Portland and southern Maine through the Coastal Flooding Community Science project. Join GMRI and local partners for discussions of the unique impacts of sea level rise on a range of coastal stakeholders and the ongoing work to build resilience along our coasts. 

Portland’s waterfront is in many ways the heart of the city - bustling with industry, recreation, tourism, food, and arts - and it’s also the boundary between our shore and rising seas. It’s an economic and cultural engine, and the City’s Waterfront Coordinator is one of the people responsible for stewarding thoughtful economic and community development in this dynamic part of the city. Join GMRI and Waterfront Coordinator Heather Moretti for a walk-and-talk about balancing the needs of many stakeholders in this mixed-use space alongside the growing threat of sea level rise and coastal flooding. Then, learn how you can contribute coastal flooding data that can help inform a resilient future for places like Portland’s waterfront.
