Adapting Fisheries & Seafood

Ensuring marine ecosystems, fisheries and seafood systems in the Gulf of Maine and beyond thrive as they adapt to change.

Local seafood provides food and jobs, delivers economic benefits, and sustains cultural connections in communities across the Gulf of Maine region and around the world. We'll produce novel science and tools and then support adaptation and growth in communities.

By 2030, we aim to achieve:

  • Better forecasts for 70% of federal fisheries and 30% of state-water fisheries in the Gulf of Maine

  • 20% increase in market share for Gulf of Maine seafood

  • Seafood and fisheries knowledge shared with 50,000 residents of coastal communities

Adapting Seafood & Fisheries Work

From now through 2030, we will lead research to understand how ecosystems and fisheries are changing in a warming ocean and support fisheries managers and the seafood value chain with the tools they need. Explore our progress so far.
