The 2025 Blue Economy Investment Summit is hosted in partnership with The ClimateTech Incubator at Northeastern University's Roux Institute and guided by a steering committee of leaders from Blue Venture Forum, Maine Venture Fund, Maine Technology Institute, CEI, and Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences.

This one-day event offers a unique opportunity to explore major trends shaping ocean and marine technology investment — what’s working, what’s changing, and what’s needed next. Attendees will hear from innovative founders, seasoned investors, and key stakeholders advancing blue economy solutions that address the most pressing challenges facing our oceans today. Maine’s leadership in the sustainable ocean economy will be front and center, with a spotlight on how the region is catalyzing growth across Northern New England and beyond.

This year’s summit will explore the intersection of climate tech and the blue economy with attention to how shifting market conditions are shaping opportunities in this sector. We’ll also highlight Maine’s dynamic entrepreneurship ecosystem and its role in fostering sustainable ocean innovation.

In collaboration with our Steering Committee, we’re excited to offer a series of free, optional pre-summit events on Thursday, October 23. These gatherings are designed to welcome attendees, build connections, and spotlight Maine’s growing innovation ecosystem.

Maine Algae Science Day

• When: 1:00 – 5:00 pm, Thursday, October 23
• Where: Gulf of Maine Research Institute.

Hosted by Bigelow Laboratory's Maine Algal Research Infrastructure & Accelerator (MARIA), this half-day event will bring together researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and the ‘algaecurious’ public to explore the cutting edge of algae innovation. You'll hear from early-stage founders and experienced investors about commercialization opportunities in aquaculture, agriculture, biochemicals, and “healthy-aging” markets.

If you are in town the day before the Summit, join us for a networking happy hour hosted in partnership with Startup Maine, the Roux Institute, and the Gulf of Maine Research Institute.
