Vernal Pool Spring Blitz
Tidings | Apr 16, 2023
During peak vernal pool season this spring, our Education team is offering virtual and in-person learning experiences focused on bringing young people and educators together through the magic of vernal pools.
In the early spring, vernal pools brim with life. They provide food for birds, mammals, reptiles, and other amphibians spring through fall. However, climate change is affecting spring temperatures and patterns of precipitation — and the impact on vernal pools is not well understood.
During peak vernal pool season this spring, our Education team is offering virtual and in-person learning experiences focused on bringing young people and educators together through the magic of vernal pools. As a group, we’re exploring how the species that rely on these pools are responding to climate change.
Through our network of organizations, practitioners, and learning experience designers, the learning experiences we’re offering will meet participants where they are in their journey of learning about and exploring vernal pools.
We will also connect the adults in these spaces with each other through our Connected Learning Ecosystems, and will provide additional resources designed to enhance these learning experiences. Through these connections and experiences, we aim to highlight a variety of pathways for youth to engage with vernal pools in schools, their communities, and beyond.
