  • LabVenture Visit Manager

    The LabVenture Program brings over 10,000 5th or 6th grade students in the state of Maine, from all 16 counties to the Cohen Center for Interactive Learning (CCIL) for a two-and-a-half-hour hands-on science experience. The LabVenture Visit Manager will be responsible for up to six 2.5 hour in-person programs each week as well as virtual programming as needed. This position will manage a small team of LabVenture Educators who collectively run daily operations of the program including welcoming students, delivering/leading student presentations/discussions, assisting students while they conduct research at their multitouch research tables, monitoring for and troubleshooting errors, monitoring “chats,” and operating the "behind-the-scenes" technology.

  • LabVenture Educator

    The Gulf of Maine Research Institute features the LabVenture Program which brings over 10,000 5th or 6th grade students in the state of Maine, from all 16 counties to the Cohen Center for Interactive Learning (CCIL) for a two-and-a-half-hour hands-on science experience. Educators will host visiting 5th and 6th grade students from throughout Maine, facilitating a customized, multi-media marine science research program at GMRI’s newly renovated CCIL. Educators will work together as a team with other educators and the LabVenture and Cohen Center Program Manager (PM) to run the day-to-day operations of the CCIL. Educators will work five days per week during the school year and through the summer with a focus on student facing experiences.

  • Postdoctoral Researcher in Management Strategy Evaluation

    GMRI is seeking applicants for a 2-year postdoctoral researcher position. The postdoc will work under the supervision of Dr. Lisa Kerr at GMRI and collaborate with Dr. Steven Cadrin at University Massachusetts Dartmouth School for Marine Science and Technology. The research will focus on evaluating the performance of alternative management procedures that aim to resolve the identified mismatch in the scale of biological population structure and management units of Atlantic cod. The candidate will apply management strategy evaluation to quantify and compare the performance of alternative management procedures that range in their alignment of management units and the biological stock structure of cod.

  • Chief Scientific Officer

    The Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at GMRI will lead a multidisciplinary team of world-class scientists conducting marine research to better understand and steward the Gulf of Maine ecosystem—from its physical dynamics to its human communities. The CSO will apply a systems approach to develop scientific priorities, conduct research, pioneer collaborative solutions to global ocean challenges, and help shape the conversation around climate change and ecosystem sustainability at the local, national, and international levels.   • Quantitative Research Associate

    The Gulf of Maine Research Institute is seeking applicants for a full-time Quantitative Research Associate position focused on statistical analyses and modeling of fish populations and marine ecosystem data. The work will span multiple research projects that focus on modeling the performance of fish, fisheries, and fisheries management under scenarios of climate change, fishing, and other drivers of interest. Work will include interacting with an interdisciplinary team and engagement with fishery stakeholders. Responsibilities and leadership of these efforts will be scaled with the applicant’s skill level.

  • Senior Business Development Associate

    The Senior Business Development Associate is a newly created position that will partner with the Chief Ventures Officer to design, build and scale Gulf of Maine Ventures. The primary job of the Senior Business Development Associate is to support a portfolio of blue economy business development projects and individual companies at various stages of creation, scaling and funding. Each of the projects and portfolio companies will be selected for their ability to expand our mission and social impact as well as generate earned revenue over time. Projects and start-up companies may originate from within or may come to the Ventures team as part of strategic initiative with one of our regional partners.
