Kelly Canesi

Kelly joined GMRI in December of 2019 as a Grant Writer and transitioned to the role of Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager in 2023. In this position, she is the lead strategist and relationship manager for GMRI’s foundation and corporate donors. She also contributes to the development of content for GMRI’s social media platforms.

Kelly has worked in the fields of research, communications, and philanthropy to develop and support cutting-edge marine science research programs. As a Master's student at the University of Rhode Island, Kelly studied coastal marine ecology and phytoplankton population dynamics in Narragansett Bay.

When she is not at GMRI, you can find Kelly exploring the Portland food scene and playing board games with friends and family.
