Extending the reach of responsibly harvested seafood

GMRI is proud to have a range of retailers, universities, schools, hospitals, and corporate dining facilities participating in the Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested program. These Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested Affiliates are providing a way for consumers to choose seafood that is traceable to fishing communities in the Gulf of Maine region and meets important criteria around responsible harvest.

Where can you find responsibly harvested seafood?

  • Fish markets and retailers. Whether it's your local fish market or your local retailer, Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested seafood is never far from home.
  • Educational institutions across New England. From the coast of Maine, to the heart of Boston, and the hills of New Hampshire, college and K-12 institutions are serving Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested seafood.
  • Hospitals. Throughout the region, hospitals are serving Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested seafood as a healthy addition to patient menus and staff dining options.

Restaurants, retailers, and institutions can only use the Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested label on seafood purchased from a seafood supplier licensed to participate in our program. This empowers consumers to feel confident that the seafood they are purchasing is traceable back to the Gulf of Maine region. Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested Champions

Champions are Affiliates that have achieved extraordinary goals. To become a Champion, an Affiliate has reached one of the following goals:

  • 100% of the white fish they purchase is Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested.
  • They always have Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested seafood on their campus, on their restaurant’s menu, or in their stores.
