To Maine lobsterman Brian Tripp, the Gulf of Maine is deeply important. It provides income for his family, sustains his community, and sparks his curiosity.
For years, Brian has partnered with us to research crucial Gulf of Maine species such as herring and northern shrimp.Â
Here, he shares his experience as both a fisherman and a GMRI research partner.
As Brian says in the video, we put a lot of stock into what fishermen tell us. That’s why we work with these fishermen on collaborative research that pursues our shared goal — the future viability of both the ecosystem and the fishing industry.Â
This research wouldn’t be possible without the commitment of fishermen like Brian. His passion for the Gulf of Maine is obvious, and we’re proud to work together to steward this tremendous resource.
