Kelsi Furman
Fisheries Engagement Program Manager
Kelsi joined GMRI as the Fisheries Engagement Program Manager in August 2026. In this role, Kelsi facilitates and advances GMRI’s relationships with the fishing industry and fisheries managers to support adaptation and growth. With a background in research, she coordinates across GMRI’s Community and Research departments to identify community needs and corresponding solutions for fisheries and seafood in the region.
Prior to joining GMRI, Kelsi earned both her B.S. and Ph.D. in Marine and Environmental Sciences from Northeastern University. Following her graduate work, Kelsi gained experience working within and across government agencies, nonprofits, and academic institutions, including NOAA Fisheries, the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, and the University of South Alabama.
Outside of work, Kelsi enjoys exploring new trails and beaches with her dog, Scout, and traveling to her hometown in Vermont to spend time with family and friends.
